Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As Doctors of Chiropractic, Dr. Dana Anderson and Dr.Tera Hamo Anderson have years of training and experience in performing spinal adjustments.

SPINAL ADJUSTMENT

The intention of an adjustment is to correct the alignment and function of a vertebral joint. An adjustment will aid in correcting the symptoms that result from abnormal alignment of vertebrae. Spinal Adjustments help restore proper spinal and nervous system function, promoting the healing process. Continued visits help retrain the supporting muscles and ligaments of your spine. A continuing schedule of regular chiropractic checkups can help detect, correct, and maintain optimum spinal and nervous system function. Find out how chiropractic care, combined with proper diet, exercise, and other aspects of good health can enhance your well-being and help you enjoy life to the fullest. The doctors here will design a care program that is for your individuality, age, condition, and lifestyle. There are several different techniques and methods used in adjusting vertebrae, and not all involve a High Velocity Low Amplitude thrust manipulation. The effects of spinal adjustments vary depending on the method performed and the individual patients condition. All techniques aid in relieving musculoskeletal pain, increasing range of motion, changes in joint kinematics, increased pain tolerance, increased muscle strength, and reducing stress. Some of the techniques used in our office include:

Diversified: the classic chiropractic technique. Uses specific manual thrusts focused on restoring normal biomechanical function.

Flexion-Distraction: a gentle, non-force adjusting procedure which mixes chiropractic and osteopathic principles and utilizes specialized adjusting tables with movable parts.

Thompson Drop: uses an adjusting table with a weighing mechanism which adds only enough tension to hold the patient in the "up" position before dropping a specific distance when the thrust is given. Activator: uses the Activator adjusting instrument instead of the hands to give consistent mechanical low-force, high speed thrusts to the body.

Logan Basic: a light touch technique that works to level the sacrum. It uses specific contacts to release the tension and align the vertebrae.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.

Nutritional Counseling

We provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices to enhance our patient´s return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? Dr. Dana and Dr. Tera can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs.

Massage Therapy and Physical Therapies

Massage therapy offers a natural conservative treatment approach that relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is tailored to meet the patient's condition and injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include increasing blood circulation, reducing swelling, relaxing muscles, relieving muscle pain and spasms, and aid in recovery and range of motion. There are many different types of massage therapy performed in our office such as:

Trigger Point Therapy: Relieves right muscles tissue causing pain, uses cycles of pressure and release and helps naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.

Deep Tissue: Releases muscle tension, loosens scar tissue and lengthens muscles and provides deep pain relief.

Sports Massage: Promotes flexibility to decrease risk of injury, improves endurance and reduces recovery time.

Prenatal Massage: Relieves headaches and backaches, enhances sleep and reduces fatigue.

Geriatric Massage: Encourages circulation, improves balance and flexibility, reduces pain and anxiety and increase joint movement.

ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE ART, short for Active Release Techniques, is a revolutionary soft tissue treatment system designed to identify and treat scar tissue adhesions. Normally, muscles act like a bundle of rubber bands and are able to freely lengthen and contract. But when a muscle is overused, it tends to shorten. This muscle shortening is a result of scar tissue that builds up within and between muscles. And this scar tissue build-up will eventually cause noticeable symptoms like pain and weakness, while restricting both range of motion and performance. ART can be used to diagnose and treat soft-tissue adhesions, nerve entrapments, biomechanical faults, muscular tightness, joint stiffness, myofascial restrictions and several other soft-tissue problems related to shortened muscles. Chiropractic physicians like our physicians at Anderson Hamo Chiropractic have found ART to be highly beneficial to athletes and nonathletes alike who are hindered by soft-tissue injuries and/or irritations.

HOW DOES ART WORK?

ART is performed only after a thorough examination and exclusion of serious pathology. As the name implies, Active Release Techniques uses motion and hands-on muscle manipulation to "free up" the problem tissues causing pain and limiting function. Exercise and stretches are often also prescribed by Anderson Hamo Chiropractic in order to prevent recurrence. It's not enough just to get you out of pain. Anderson Hamo Chiropractic's goal is to teach you how to take care of yourself and avoid future reinjures.

Anderson Hamo Chiropractic is also trained in biomechanics to determine which muscles are hindering your performance when you run, bike, swim, and so on. By combining their evaluation with patented ART treatment protocols, Anderson Hamo Chiropractic can treat scar tissue adhesions and help you perform at your best.

CAN ANY DOCTOR PERFORM ART?

Dr. Tera Hamo Anderson is board-certified by the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board and is a Level Two ART provider, certified in biomechanics and nerve entrapment. Dr. Tera Hamo Anderson uses the biomechanics aspect of ART when treating competitive athletes because of its excellent results and rapid recovery. Finding evidence-based chiropractic care that provides the result you need isn't always easy. It's even harder to find such care that's personalized to your lifestyle. Here at Anderson Hamo Chiropractic, you get both.

This amazing elastic therapeutic tape was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase over 35 years ago in Japan. Since then, Kinesio Tex Tape Gold has become the standard for therapeutic and rehabilitative taping. It is made from a gentle cotton fiber strip and features a 100% medical grade acrylic adhesive. Kinesio Tex Tape Gold is latex free and does not limit the range of motion. Tension on tape has the ability to relax or stimulate the muscles and creates a lifting effect which improves circulation and relieves pain.

Kinesio Taping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for Preventive Maintenance, Edema, and Pain Management.

The Kinesio Taping Method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24/hr a day basis. It is nonrestrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion.

Kinesio Tape is used for anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between. Examples include: carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain (subluxation, herniated disc), knee conditions, shoulder conditions, hamstring, groin injury, rotator cuff injury, whiplash, tennis elbow, patella tracking, pre and post surgical edema, ankle sprains, and athletic preventative injury method.
